Jeff Hwang

Jeffrey G. J. Hwang is a colonel in the United States Air Force and commander of the 142d Operations Group, 142d Fighter Wing. He won the Mackay Trophy in 1999 for nearly simultaneously shooting down two Mig-29 fighters during a single engagement.
Early life
Hwang grew up in Queens, New York and graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1988.
Career
Hwang is a F-15C fighter pilot. While flying in the 493d Fighter Squadron he saw combat during the Kosovo War. On March 26, 1999, while patrolling the Bosnia/Yugoslavia border he detected 2 MiG-29s. Hwang fired 2 AIM-120 missiles, first at the lead MiG and then at the trailing fighter. Both shots hit their targets, nearly simultaneously bringing both MiGs down.
