Jawad Pasha of Pakistan is claimed to be the world's best maintained and much recovered Persistent Vegetative State or minimally conscious state patient. He suffered a very severe brain injury in 2004. Jawad is still without motor function, but recovered as fully conscious or fully aware. He is a new model for PVS & MCS patients to give the caregivers hope for gradual improvement. He and his family faced many tragedies during this process. This patient has a long history of epilepsy (seizures) but it is claimed that the caregivers have successfully controled the seizure fits by using the simple technique of diverting the attention of the patient to somewhere else.
