Javad Alizadeh

"Javad Alizadeh" was born in 1953 in Ardebil ( Azerbaijan of Iran). Graduate of English Translation.
A self-taught cartoonist starting to draw since 1970.
Due to his university degree (translation), he considers cartoon as a "translation tool" to translate the life hardships into Humour language! On the other hand, he says about himself that, after a long time drawing cartoon, he has become neither a good cartoonist nor a good translator!
Founder/editor and publisher of the independent and private Iranian monthly cartoon magazine: Tanz-O-Caricature (Humour & Caricature) since 1990 .
His cartoons have been published in most international newspapers and magazines via C & W Syndicate in 80s and 90s.
Was member of the international "cartoonists and writers syndicate"
He has worked in various genres of cartoon such as: Portrait caricatures, editorial, gag, black humor, comic strips, sports, surrealistic ,philosophical etc.

Awards: some two national and thirty international prizes in France, Italy, Japan, korea, Turkey, China Among them: First Prize in Caricature at the Anglet Festival (France1990). Silver Date of Bordighera (Italy 1996). First sole prize of Ankara cartoon festival (Turkey2007).

He also was a member of different national and international cartoon festival juries including the Skopje (Macedonia) Cartoon Festival in 1986, Anglet (France)in 1991, Dubai (Emirates) in 2002 ,Izmir(Turkey) 2009 and the Tehran Cartoon Biennials in 1991, 93, 95, 2005,2007 etc... and jury of other local cartoon festivals.

He prefers editorial national / local cartoon to festival cartoon ( Due to local cartoon's democratic and criticism role), but he participates in some cartoon festivals in order to obtain some cash prize for continuing and surviving his magazine to promote criticism and democracy for the nation.
