Thug Line Records
Thug Line Records is a record label founded by Jason Calixto and Seo Ji Hoon, also known as Thug Line Family, Thug Line Soldiers and TL. Originally founding members of the Death Row Productions, a collective of Metro Manila based rap and R&B groups, Seo Ji Hoon broke apart from the group in 2008 to establish his own roster of musicians. Although this roster is not well known, they have appeared on Seo Ji Hoon's solo albums Thug Mentality, Thug on da Line, LeathaFace: The Legends Underground (Part I) and Too Raw for Retail. The Thug Line Records was popular in the underground Filipino Rap industry as it produces a lot of mixtapes and sold it online in mp3 formats. Thug Line Records was uniquely known to produce it's music on digital media rather than discs and casettes. According to Jason, it is their marketing strategy as piracy is a plague in the Philippines and small record labels like them can only produce music in a very cheap manner. Despite the label's low class operations, it is experiencing a good amount of success as it operated in an almost zero-cost circumstances. The label also promotes foreign albums majorly on the Hip hop genre.
