Jamie Steele

Jamie Christopher Steele (born January 1st, 1985, in Portland, Oregon) is a composer and musician, whose instruments include vocals, guitar, and keyboards. He is known for his abilities in Composition, Performance, and Songwriting. He started music from early on in his life learning piano, and eventually picked up guitar. Straight out of high school he founded the rock band "LUX" in 2003, who went on to achieve feats such as opening for legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynrd and appearing on the cover of Max Sports and Fitness Magazine (LUX is the first band to ever appear on fitness magazine, and play a sold out stadium for their first show).


From 2003 forward, Jamie attended Audiograph International studying audio engineering with Jose "Chilitos" Valenzuela and ended up teaching such students as Tony Kanal (No Doubt), Jim Creegan (Barenaked Ladies), and many more. He also contributed to the completion of "The Complete Pro Tools Handbook by Chilitos".


After his education and time educating was completed, Jamie began freelance engineering working with many independent and major label artists including Houston, Shuvel, Culver City Dub Collective, Adam Topol (Jack Johnson), and many, many more. A few producer's he has worked with are Gary Miller (Cher, David Bowie), Scott Ralston (311), and Mark Blewitt (Goldfinger, Story of the Year, the Used).


In 2005 Steele kicked off a career in film by mixing the score for "The Hills Have Eyes". From there he went on to write additional music, orchestrate, record the orchestra, and mix the score for films such as "P2", "The Strangers", "3:10 To Yuma", "Love in the Time of Cholera", "Max Payne", "In the Electric Mist", and "Seven Pounds". He has worked with some of the best composers, musicians, and engineers in the business, including tomandandy (Mothman Prophecies), Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma), Angelo Milli (Seven Pounds), Antonio Pinto (Love in the Time of Cholera), Dennis McCarthy (Star Trek), and John Kurlander (Lord of the Rings, The Beatles).


From about the same time as starting his career in film, Jamie began writing music for commercials as well. His music has been featured in nationally airing campaigns and his clients include Sony, Coca Cola, Heineken, Ford, Toyota, Verizon, John Frieda, Hugo Boss, Clairol, Flomax, HBO, and more. His music has also been spotlighted in games such as EA's "Skate".


Jamie's newest endeavor is the rock band, Avow (avowmusic.com), whose album will be released early 2009.
