James Russell Williams

James Russell Williams III (born April 16, 1973) is an American businessman in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is currently running in the 2010 election for the U.S. Senate seat being held by Utah Senator Bob Bennett. Williams officially announced his candidacy on June 10, 2009. He has not held any previous political office and is running a grassroots campaign. Also in the race are Mike Lee, Cherilyn Eagar and Tim Bridgewater.
The Democrat candidate in the race is Sam Granato.
Williams is a constitutionalist conservative Republican and is running on a platform consisting of five ideological planks; limited government, accountability of politicians, fiscal discipline, national security and immigration reform. Some of his other positions include a favoring of private health insurance over government sponsored programs, unrestricted use of public lands, a rollback or Roe v. Wade and making English the official language of the United States.
James Williams was born to James and Polly Williams of La Masa, California. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1991 until December 1995. He and his wife Jennifer live in South Jordan, Utah. The couple have no children.
