Information provided from Who's Who in the World JAMES MARSHALL GALBRAITH is a businessman, author, and former corporate finance lawyer. With his partners, he helped pioneer the concept of leveraged buyouts in the late 1970s and 1980s. He was the President of Standard Felt (1979-1983); Bell-Riddell, Inc. (1980-1982); Bell Helmets International (1980-1985); (1984-1987); Lake Street Restaurants (1987-1990); and on the board of the following investments: Slotline Golf (1997-1999), A Sport (Avalanche and Silence snowboards, Neptune wakeboards, and Straight Line water ski accessories-1999-2001). He was also a principal in Huntington Hotel Partners, which developed the Ritz-Carlton, Huntington Hotel (1987-1994) in Pasadena, CA, and Huntington Hotel Associates, which developed nearby retail and residential properties (1987-1996). Since 1997, he has been the President of Crestmont Investments. Galbraith was an associate of the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher (1967-1969), and co-founder of Rodi Pollock Pettker Galbraith & Phillips in Los Angeles, CA (1969-1984; and of counsel 1984-2003). He attended Stanford Law School (J.D., 1967), where he was an editor of the Stanford Law Review, and served on the Executive Committee of the Stanford Law School Board of Visitors (1986-1989). Galbraith is the author of In the Name of the People (aka The Datax Conspiracy)-1977, Douglas West Publishers; The Money Tree-1981, Benchmark Books; Fear of Failure-1993, Benchmark Books; and Patient Power-1995, Benchmark Books. He has also given numerous radio and television interviews, including CNN. He serves on the boards of trustees of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (since 1985) and Pomona College (since 1987), now as an honorary trustee and an emeritus trustee, respectively. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Pomona College (B.A., 1960). He also serves as administrator of the Tina C. Foundation, formed to finance research into a cure for lupus. Galbraith is listed in Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in the West. He is a member of the California Club, the Valley Hunt Club, the Athaenaeum, and a former member of the Young Presidents Organization.
