Jagadish Debbarma

Jagadish Debbarma is an Indian-Tripuri politician and human rights activist from Tripura. He is also a veteran leader of the who is currently the chairperson and secretary of the party. On 19 April 2021, he was announced as the Chairman of the newly formed Tripura ADC Council
Background
Jagadish Debbarma was born on 8 December 1960 in Mahespur Kami (Village). His father is Jatindra Debbarma. Jagadish Debbarma did his high school from Umakanta Academy in Agartala. He did his graduation in Bachelor of Commerce from University of Calcutta, which he completed in the year 1982.
Political career
Jagadish Debbarma was first elected to the TTAADC in 1990 from his native Constituency Jirania. He was then made the Chairman of the council for the first time from 1990 to 1995.
In 1998 Jagadish Debbarma drew close to being the MLA on his maiden run for the State Assembly as a TUJS candidate from Mandai Bazar Constituency. However, he could win the seat of by just 1544 votes. Respectively, he again came close to winning in 2003 but came in second by 1450 votes. He stood for three more Tripura Vidhan Sabha general elections in 2008, 2013 and 2018 but was not successful in entering the state assembly.
Chairman of TTAADC
Jagadish Debbarma is the current chairman of the TTAADC. He ran for MDC in the 2021 TTAADC election which was held on 6 April 2021. His party the INPT forged an alliance with TIPRA Motha and contested on 5 seats. Jagadish won the Jirania Constituency seat with a huge margin and went on to become a member of the District Council after almost 25 years.
On 19 April 2021, at the oath-taking ceremony Jagadish Debbarma was unanimously elected and announced as the Chairman of the TTAADC. This is second time that he will be assuming office as the Chairman of the newly formed Council.
