Jacques Duyver

Jacques Duyver is an entrepreneur and venture capitalist in the United Kingdom & South Africa. Founder of Itec South Africa and Itec United Kingdom. The company specialises in providing copiers, printers, as well as telecommunications and financial solutions.
Early life
Duyver was born on 3 October 1963, in Cape Town, South Africa. At the age of six, he relocated with his parents to the province of Gauteng, where he attended Germiston High School.
After matriculating from Germiston High School, Duyver enrolled at Stellenbosch University to study Aeronautical Engineering. However, after a year he decided not to complete his tertiary studies at Stellenbosch, but rather pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions within the realm of the office automation industry.
Professional career
At a young age, Duyver began his entrepreneurial journey by starting his own business, in 1997 Duyver founded Itec South Africa, directly after the end of the apartheid regime the business was given rights to import multifunctional devices into South Africa from various international suppliers.
According to his personal website, Duyver began the business with “a desk, chair, telephone and a 30 day $5 000 line of credit.” In 2008, Duyver stepped down as CEO of Itec South Africa after doing a Black Economic Empowerment deal with the largest NGO in South Africa, ikamava labantu in order to help address the inequalities caused by the apartheid regime, and shortly thereafter immigrated to the United Kingdom to set up Itec UK.
Today the Itec Group turns over $210 million per year and employs 1000 people in South Africa and a further 110 in the UK.
Shortly after establishing Itec UK Duyver stepped down as CEO but still retains majority ownership of the group in SA and UK to pursue his love of entrepreneurship and new business ventures and so began Boost Private Equity in 2009, which is an independent private equity firm. Boost has since made several investments into new businesses.
Duyver also sits on various boards and committees and is involved in a charity organization.
Tertiary Qualifications
Duyver is a Harvard Business School Alumni. In 2007, Duyver enrolled at Harvard Business School, to complete a three year Owner/President Management Program (OPM), which he completed in 2010.
Personal life
Duyver has one daughter, enjoys starting new ventures, has a keen eye for design and has started Fundi where he can embellish in both design and new business. Duyver has a keen passion for motor racing and is an avid driver himself.
