John Simeon Chavez, (born July 27, 1982) better known by his stage name J0HNNY is an American singer, and songwriter of various genres. From 2000–2005, Chavez was the guitarist for Metal Blade recording artists Vehemence. After departing that band, he formed The Vanity Light, later also playing in The Medic Droid, and plans on embarking on a solo career in 2008. Chavez sings and plays a variety of instruments such as guitar, ketyar, piano, and bass, along with programming electronic music. J0HNNY is working on 12 songs of album material that is to be released on Itunes in early 2008.
Musical career Having always wanting to take a frontman position and form his own band as a change up from all the band's he has joined or had fronted by someone other than himself, the artist name J0HNNY was created.
Vehemence
Vehemence (member from 2000 - 2005) as a guitarist credited as John Chavez. Several shows were played in the U.S.A. with the band touring with "Decapitated, Deicide, Behemoth, All That Remains" on occasion. The band was also featured on MTV Headbangers Ball in 2003 where Chavez was featured in the music video We Are All Dying. Juliya's Uranium, Metal Blade's 25th Anniversary show featured Vehemence in an interview where Chavez was also featured alongside interviews with Cannibal Corpse and Armored Saint.
The Vanity Light The Vanity Light was formed by "Johnny" in Spring 2006. More band members were hired to make it a live band. There were a few line-up changes. TVL played 6 local shows in Arizona including an early slot on The Warped Tour 2007, on the Ernie Ball Stage in Phoenix, Arizona. The group managed to record one full song called Last Flight Sky Harbor which got Kerrang Radio airplay, The band is currently R.I.P. for the time being. The same three band members (Johnny, Chris, Hector) that consisted of the Medic Droid were also in The Vanity Light running both band's at once.
Medic Droid
The Medic Droid (member credited as Johnny, or Johnny Droid from January 2007 - October 2007) as synth, guitar, programmer, keytar, and back-up vocals. The band was techno mixed with rock music. He contributed to writing music for the band along aside the other two members. Songs he was featured in are Keeping up With The Joneses, FSCENE8, and It's About Love.
He was also a part of the first tours to New York with Enter Shikari, San Francisco with Gunther, Los Angeles with Hyper Crush, and Texas with Karate Highschool until leaving the group citing "irreconcilable differences" and with the intention of pursuing a solo career.
Equipment The main axe he currently uses is the Custom Lite 1987 Gibson Silverburst Les Paul and the main keyboard he uses is the AX-7 Keytar made by Roland.
