Ivy Sports Symposium

The Ivy Sports Symposium is an annual student-run conference that is considered one of the global sports industry’s premier events. The Symposium enables the industry’s leaders and most successful executives to share invaluable knowledge with their peers and potential successors. The event rotates being held among Ivy League institutions.
In its first year of rotating among Ivy League institutions, the 2011 Symposium was held at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The 7th annual Ivy Sports Symposium will be held at Columbia University in New York, NY on Friday, November 16, 2012.
Established in 2006 by Chris Chaney at Princeton University, the Ivy Sports Symposium is a non-profit organization that sets the standard for college-based sports business conferences. The intimate setting combined with engaging content and dynamic speakers make it a “must attend” event every year. In 2011, the Symposium established two initiatives furthering its commitment to the development and promotion of young leaders in the industry.
The Ivy Sports Symposium Fellowship Program provides motivated college students with the unique opportunity to actively contribute to the continued success of the Symposium organization. Fellows work directly with the Executive Director to define, articulate and execute strategies aimed at achieving the organization’s vision.
In addition, the Symposium has partnered with SportsPro to launch the 10 NEXT, an annual award honoring the future generation of sports industry leaders from around the world who will shape the business in the coming decades. Each year, the 10 NEXT winners are recognized at the Symposium.

The Ivy Sports Symposium-SportsPro 10 NEXT shines a spotlight on rising executives around the globe who will shape the sports industry of tomorrow.
Launched in 2011, the 10 NEXT annually recognizes a distinct group of ten sports executives under the age of 30 that have achieved an exceptional level of success that is truly rare at such a young age. Nominees must be under the age of 30 and must demonstrate a truly remarkable curriculum vitae.
The Selection Committee, comprised of a diverse group of leading sports executives, determines the 10 NEXT winners based on a number of criteria including, but not limited to, uniqueness and exceptionality; size and scope of responsibilities; measurable accomplishments and business results as well as creativity, innovation and leadership.
This years selected individuals will be honored at the 2012 Ivy Sports Symposium on Friday, November 16 at Columbia University in New York with a special ceremony. In addition, their achievements will be profiled in an upcoming edition of SportsPro magazine and on the SportsPro website.
Fellowship Program
The Ivy Sports Symposium Fellowship Program was created in 2011 to provide talented graduate and undergraduate students with the unique opportunity to gain in-depth experience working on one of the industry’s most respected events and the organization surrounding it.
Each year, the Ivy Sports Symposium selects one (1) student to provide hands-on support on a variety of Symposium ventures. The Fellow works closely with the Executive Director on several important organizational tasks including, but not limited to: coordinating Advisory Committee activities, servicing Symposium sponsors, assisting with Symposium event execution, recruitment of Symposium speakers, organization of administration, and assistance with publicity through Facebook, Twitter, and other media outlets.
Applications for the Ivy Sports Symposium Fellowship are due in June of each year.
