The IT Journalism Awards, nicknamed the Lizzies, are Australian media awards for information technology-related topics.
History
Founded in 2003,
The event has been sponsored by a variety of commercial sponsors over the years, with naming rights changing to reflect the biggest one:
*2003-2008: Sun Microsystems; organised and hosted by MediaConnect
*2017-2018: Australian Computer Society (ACS)
*2019-2023: Samsung
Description
The IT Journalism Awards are awards for information technology-related topics published by Australian media. They are produced by the media intelligence platform Influencing, and are free to enter, supported by major sponsor Samsung. Judging is done by peers. In 2024, there were 23 categories and 140 entrants.
Categories
The two top titles, for Best Journalist and Best Title, are popularly known as "Gold Lizzies". Gold and bronze statuettes of the frilled-neck lizard are awarded to winners, since local IT media nicknamed the awards "lizards".

Winners
Prominent winners in recent years include ABC News, the Australian Financial Review, 2021, and 2022. The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age journalists. and gaming media. IT News, which won the Gold Lizzy for Best Title in 2021, called it "the most coveted award across all categories in Australia's business and technology press", in a large field of major press outlets.
