Irene Kyza

Irene Kyza is a researcher in Applied and Computational Mathematics and a Lecturer in Computational Mathematics at the University of Dundee.
Education and career
Kyza received her Ph.D in Applied & Computational Mathematics from the University of Crete in 2009. Her dissertation, Posteriori Error Estimates for Approximations of Semilinear Parabolic and Schroedinger Type Equations, was supervised by Charalambos G. Makridakis. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Maryland, College Park, USA (2009-2011) and a postdoctoral fellow at the Foundation for Research & Technology - Hellas (FORTH) (2012-2013). In 2011, she was a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Cyprus. As a postdoctoral fellow at FORTH, she was the principal researcher of the project "BIONUM", which was co-funded by the European Union and the Greek State. Her research has also been funded by the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland.
Awards and honors
Kyza was awarded the Emmy Noether Fellowship in 2020.
