Iran-Guatemala relations

Iran-Guatemala relations refers to the international relations between Islamic Republic of Iran and Guatemala. Both countries established diplomatic relations on 25th January 1993.
Diplomatic relations
Iran and Guatemala established diplomatic relations in 25th January 1993, although with little diplomatic and commercial exchange. On 3rd of January 2012, controversies happened in Guatemala because the new president, Otto Pérez Molina invited all heads of 149 states that Guatemala had relations with. Among them, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran at the time was invited too.
Iran maintains a concurrent ambassador for Guatemala from Mexico, Guatemala maintains a concurrent ambassador for Iran from New York.
