Record as a poet, essayist...
The Poet. Ion Pachia Tatomirescu made his literary debut with poems and a paradoxist ars poetica (of the holo-poem) published, simultaneously, in the review Ramuri – III, No. 10 (27) / 1966 (p. 21) and in Povestea Vorbii, No. 7 / 1966 (p. 14) – the literary supplement of Ramuri, edited at Vălenii de Munte by Miron Radu Paraschivescu, while his first volume of poems was entitled Mountain (BucureÅŸti, Eminescu Publishing House, 1972). From his early poems published in newspapers / reviews, it became obvious that Ion Pachia Tatomirescu “conjugates” «the great philosophical problems of existence» in order to achieve catharsis, his lyric ego being «present everywhere, as an eye and sense witness to the condensation of the sublime miracles from the sap of earth» (Al. Firescu, The First Transitive Pulsation..., in the newspaper Înainte – Craiova –, XXII, No. 6.560, Saturday, April 2nd, 1966, p. 3.), his writing being ennobled under the sign of «music, of an ineffable echo, which is the seal of poetry» (Miron Radu Paraschivescu – Povestea Vorbii, No. 7), an unmistakable seal springing from the first ars poetica of paradoxism, Peristylium, from a clear and most profound “definition” of the holo-poem, both being certified as far back as the autumn of 1966 (by Miron Radu Paraschivescu, Ilarie Hinoveanu, and Petre Dragu). As a «Dacian's son» (Vl. Streinu, Snowdrops, in the review «Luceafărul», No. 11 / 255, March 18th, 1967, p. 1), while stepping into “the Poem's land” with his Mountain and «bearing witness of a profoundly authentic lyric eruption by means of associative boldness and inner dynamism, which express the struggle and the impetus of an adolescent sensitivity thrilled about self-discovery and disquieted by the presentiment of a cosmic order» (M. Iorgulescu, Mountain, in the review Luceafărul – Bucharest –, XV, No. 32 / 536, August 5th, 1972, p. 6.), Ion Pachia Tatomirescu is not merely one of the founders / theorists of paradoxism but also the creator / inventor of the salm, the shortest fixed form of poetry known in the history of world literature, that is to say, «a distich, in which the first line is disyllabic, a trochee, being the verse of “the Cosmic Whole's division into halves“, while the second line, a tetrasyllabic one, is a Zalmoxian pair of trochees...» (Ion Pachia Tatomirescu, Salms for “the Nobel Prize” of the Swallows, 2000, p. 5). «It is undeniable that the psalms unconditionally surpass in length the word-sparing haiku, without thus damaging (...) the equilibrium between brevity and density (a subtle balance, difficult to accomplish...). Here are some examples, not to confine to abstractions: “Vineyards / dropping their tears...”; “Mountain, / be skies' fountain...!”; “Hot shield – / butterfly yield.” etc. (E. Dorcescu, Poetry and Cosmography, in Paralela 45, cultural supplement of the daily newspaper RenaÅŸterea bănăţeană, TimiÅŸoara, No. 3478, July 3rd, 2001, p. 6.); hence we arrive at «the cosmogonic reading of the volume»; since, «as the author informs us in the foreword, “the lyrical hero of the salm is simultaneously an observer and a participant in a microcosmic and a macrocosmic order”; accordingly, it is not surprising that we behold the word “Cosmographies” in a frame on the first page; these poetic crystals with countless reflections, speak about the human soul, at any time and at any place, as being able to comprise the immensity of the universe in its unseen (yet abyssal) grain» (ibid.). In defiance of the haiku-micropoem, Tatomirescu's “invention” has already been “acknowledged” by aestheticians from both Belgium, such as Paul van Melle («The Salms, unique as they may be, represent fixed form poems , shorter than the Japanese haiku since they span a trochee and a tetrasyllabic line. It may not be an easy task to get used to this kind of rhythm » – Paul Van Melle, À tous les échos, in the review Inédit, No. 153, April, 2001, p. 28), and France, such as Jean-Claude George («The salm is the shortest fixed form of poetry in the history of world literature; tripling the salm – which leads us in close proximity to the haiku – results into the trisalm...» – Jean-Claude George, Salmes d'Ion Pachia Tatomirescu, in the review Art et Poésie – France / Pagny sur Meuse –, XLIV, No. 177, January, 2002, p. 67). The Last Hadronic Poems have also been remarked by Jean-Paul Mestas, professor of Romanics at the University of Sorbonne: «Ion Pachia Tatomirescu's sonnets provide enchantment, the magic of the visions, since Dacia's horizons are unsealed to bring about reverberations of the heart's depths which reveal latent beauties» (in the review Jalons, No. 73, 2002, p. 41).
The Essayist. Ion Pachia Tatomirescu's interdisciplinary research work has been highly regarded as “summa cum laudae” since it is a corolla of innovating / “revolutionary” writings. For instance, in the study From “Mioritza” to Zalmoxis, as Romulus Vulcănescu attested as far back as 1984, Ion Pachia Tatomirescu «pleads for the “Mioritic” roots of Zalmoxianism, he constantly appeals to the Zalmoxianist elements in the content of “Mioritza”. In other words, the theme of transsymbolising the ballad into Zalmoxianism makes way for the theme of transforming Zalmoxianism into ballad. The prevailing idea of this relationship is the serenity of the “Mioritic” protagonist when facing death, a mood which reiterates, on the epic level, the Dacians' serenity when the messenger to Zalmoxis faces death. Following L. Blaga, Ion Pachia Tatomirescu substitutes the (stylistic) matrix for the Riverbed, applying it to elements of mythical geography (which refer to Hell and Heaven). The terms allegory and symbol, which hold an important place in the mythical thinking, are emphasized. Ion Pachia Tatomirescu fights against Lucian Blaga's “undulating space” abyssal theory, made up of hills and valleys, replacing it with the syncretic semantics theory of the spiritual space in zigzag, mountain peak – abyss – mountain peak ; he discovered that the peak – abyss – peak rhythmicity is to be found in the Romanian folk poetry. Here is the way to do that: he imagines a new poetics with regard to the study of rhythmicity in the Romanian folk poems, in which there exist particular types of lines . The idea of cultivated orality (which is fundamentally the ceremonial orality of the royal court or the cultural orality of the pontifical type) represents a powerful idea used by the author» (Acad. Romulus Vulcănescu, The Theme of Transsymbolising the Ballad “Mioritza” into Zalmoxianism..., in “Mioritza” – A Semantic-Syncretic and Symbolic-Generative reading..., by Ion Pachia Tatomirescu, the University of Craiova, 1986, p. 73). Ion Pachia Tatomirescu is «a researcher who has extensive information and a true capacity of comprehension and systematisation» (Mircea Braga), «he is a tireless spirit, unceasingly inquiring, a constant ally of the most authorised critical voices», «having the gift of breviloquence and the rare and praiseworthy capacity of absorbing a prodigious quantity of information» (CriÅŸu Dascălu), «persisting in exhaustiveness» (Liviu Leonte); his doctoral thesis, The Generation of the Poetic Resurrection: 1965 – 1970, «the fruit of his readings which cover some decades», may be looked upon as «a whole generation's genuine compendium of poetry which, as a rule, is grounded on indisputable values» (Mircea TomuÅŸ); «a bulky tome, Ion Pachia Tatomirescu's book reinstates (after investigating the work and its background) a generation which, in its revisionist fit of fury, has been severely contested in the recent years» (Adrian Dinu Rachieru – cf. Ion Pachia Tatomirescu, The Generation of the Poetic Resurrection, 2005). Ion Pachia Tatomirescu's goals and works are circumscribed to the authentic encyclopaedism in which the third millennium after Jesus Christ's birth takes pride... (cf. Mugur MoÅŸescu, An Article for the Second Edition of DGLR..., Afterword to: Ion Pachia Tatomirescu, Despre fructul curcubeului / On the Fruit of the Rainbow, 2007, p. 172 sq.).

The founder of the paradoxism is Florentin Smarandache. What IPT and others did, could be another literary movement, but not paradoxism.

What Florentin Smarandache does is to mime some antithetic / simplistic structures found in the Romanian proverb: a is white, b is black. Paradoxism has amplitude and profoundness, an internal dialectic structure, like in the poetry of the great Romanian poets Sorescu, N Stanescu, IPT, A Paunescu etc. It creates values and meaning, transcending the states of matter, it is a universe which reveals new and rich significances with each reading... Sorry for a versus b!
