An Investing meme (also known as a stock market meme) is a unit of cultural information referencing the financial markets, with the objective of relaying an idea, communication, or belief. The term is derived from meme, which is "an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture." Investment memes cover a wide variety of topics, ranging from securities and forex to short selling and value investing. Description Investment memes are a conglomerate of 21st Century social media language and investment practices. The two empirically dis-associated subjects have been molded into one as a result of a younger generation having the tools to research entrepreneurial investment concepts at a young age. As a result of young, business minded individuals came the integration of the popular social media tool, memes. While memes are not restrictive to a young generation, implementation and use of internet related content has a broad teenage base. While the definition of investing meme does not have limited, tangible boundaries, the usual format of the memes are a picture with captions. Origin Investing memes were originally popularized by the "Stock Marketeers" in an attempt to promote fiscal entrepreneurship to a younger generation, as well as create a community of like-minded investors.
