Integrated Computer Solutions

Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc. (ICS) of Waltham, MA, provides consulting, support, training and add-on products for the Qt cross-platform framework. ICS’s clients are typically large-scale organizations whose core businesses are technology dependent.
History
ICS was founded in 1987 to provide professional services and training for the then up and coming X Window System, and in turn to produce an industry trade show called Xhibition.
In 1989, ICS began selling its first software product, OSF/Motif — a toolkit developed by an industry consortium called the Open Software Foundation (OSF). ICS enhanced and repackaged the toolkit to sell directly to developers and development organizations.
ICS also maintains MotifZone, the official home page for the Open Motif development project. MotifZone.com features a comprehensive bug database, the CVS development tree for OpenMotif, pre-built binary distributions for Linux distributions, and Motif documentation.
In 1990, ICS released its first internally developed product — Builder Xcessory (BX). This tool was sold to UNIX software developers to help them create Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) for their applications.
In 2004, ICS acquired CenterLine Systems, in C/C++ testing, and continues to upgrade and enhance Replay Xcessory, a Motif testing tool.
In 2005, ICS acquired the UIM/X product line from Bluestone Consulting. UIM/X is a GUI Builder for Motif application developers. ICS continues to enhance and support UIM/X which is now available for Linux platforms.
In 2014, ICS began producing an interactive touchscreen initially targeted at automotive showroom displays.
In 2018, ICS announced the launch of Boston UX, a user experience (UX) design consultancy.
In 2019, ICS partnered with BlackBerry QNX to deliver safety-critical products to medical device and industrial IoT markets.
Qt
ICS provides consulting services as well as support and training for Qt application development projects. ICS is a Qt Software Preferred Training and Consulting Partner. ICS’s clients are typically large-scale organizations whose core businesses are technology dependent. ICS is a certified Qt partner.
Automotive IVI
In 2018, ICS joined The Linux Foundation’s Automotive Grade Linux (AGL). AGL is a collaborative open source project that aims to accelerate the development and adoption of a fully open software stack for the connected car. ICS creates In-Vehicle-Infotainment systems for its customers and talked about IVI user experience (UX) development in Automotive Megatrends. ICS is also a member of the GENIVI Alliance, often sponsoring events all over the world. ICS uses a layered software architecture approach to help to more quickly build automotive IVI.
Boston UX
Boston UX was formed in response to ICS’ escalating demand for UX design services. The trend was validated by Adobe, whose survey revealed that UX designers are now as in demand as software engineers and that 87% of the 500 design department heads surveyed said hiring more UX designers is the top priority for their organization. Boston UX specializes in creating intuitive interface design for touchscreen and voice-powered smart devices and products, such as medical devices, industrial controls and IoT, and consumer devices, among others. Boston UX also specializes in voice user interface (VUI).
