In the Public Square

In the Public Square is a live call-in talk radio program, podcast and website organization dedicated to intelligent discussion of cultural and political issues from a Christian point of view. The program is moderated by hosts John Snyder and Alexandra Berauer and airs on KTKZ (1380 AM) in Sacramento, California, every Friday night from midnight to 2:00AM. The program is broadcast in a market of nearly 2 million people and reaches an area that includes the greater Sacramento area, Walnut Creek (on the outskirts of San Francisco), Stockton, and Rocklin, California.

Radio programs and weekly podcasts
John Snyder and Alexandra Berauer co-host In the Public Square, and converse on topics ranging from the importance of civility in the public square, to same-sex marriage and the influence of Christianity on the development of democracy. The program provides a unique forum for discussions of culture and history for people who wish to challenge or learn more about a Christian worldview. In the Public Square provides a consistent Christian gloss on political and cultural issues rather than being focused on theology or homiletics. The live call-in talk program airs on the Salem Radio Network's Sacramento station between Mike Gallagher and Michael Medved.

Host John Snyder often discusses the importance of history and is a dedicated student of the Civil War and American history. He is also a student of law and literature. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Trinity Law School. John began his career in talk radio at KKLA 99.5FM in Southern California as the host of Apologetics.com. For nearly four years, John co-hosted with Christopher Neiswonger, who now moderates that program. In the Public Square continues to work in concert with Apologetics.com to bring quality discussions to the world of theology and politics.

Guests have included among others, radio talk show host Greg Koukl, Claremont Institute Distinguished Fellow Dr. Harry Jaffa, Professor and philosopher Craig Hawkins, Drs. Fuz Rana and Hugh Ross of Reasons to Believe, Dr. Frank Beckwith, Trinity Law School Dean Donald McConnell and Professor Kevin Holsclaw, writer and lecturer Ken Samples, and Professor Kevin Lewis of Biola University.
