In the high attention area (, ) is a 1977 Soviet action movie directed by Andrei Malyukov. It achieved the status of a cult film among the former soviet and novadays russian VDV veterans, and along with Hit Back it became a part of popular culture with several generations of airborne troopers. Plot Story unfolds somewhere in Soviet Union. There are a colossal military manouvres preparing between "Northern" and "Southern" army groups, which are prearranged to be a rivals. Manouvres are spreading and rising up to the active stage. "Southern" Guards Airborne regiment Commander appoints three reconnaissance groups to be dropped at the "Northern" deep rear with a mission to find and capture rival Hidden Commanding Center (HCO) and set the radio beacon to show the proper place as Drop zone. Two of the three groups are soon captured by the "Northern" counter-reconnaissance units. The third recon group lead by Lt. Tarasov (Boris Galkin) managed to dodge all the traps set by opposite forces. "Northern" Mjr. Morozhkyn (Anatoly Kuznetsov), a Commanding officer, who is leading the pursuit, makes a roundup in the forest, where third recon group is supposed to be. But desantniki managing to break away and Tarasov decide to split the group, and send his deputy Praporshchik (soviet Warrant Officer) Volentir to the arranged rendezvous. Tension is increasing by the group of criminals which are managed to escape from a nearby prison, armed with a weapons, killing and injuring few locals and now hiding in the same area, where Prap. Volentir (Mihai Volontir) is going to. So he face them at the forest warden's hut, where criminals made an ambush and hurt him badly. But experienced in martial arts, Volentir managing to knock them all down and call local police authorities by the radio-transmitter, and unmask himself to the rival counter-reconnaissance by this radio-message. The group is gathering together and find primary point, but it turned to be a hoax, a fake underground construction builded with only purpose: to misroute scouts from the right path. And chase is getting closer and closer by each minute. Tarasov, a young unexperienced Ryazan graduate, is deeply despaired and in the act of ebullience pummeling and smashing up all in the scope of his reach, and finally sitting down crying and mumbling: "Like a boy, they treat me like a boy!". Wise and experienced Volentir encourage him and urge to make a right decision and continue quest, but himself is stayed in the catacombs to keep the chase and leave others to run further. And accidentally, Tarasov and his subordinates find an enemy communication cable, and quickly figure out that it can lead them directly to the HCO. There is fifteen minutes left before the mass paratroopers drop, and the "Southern" Air armada is carrying now a thousands of paratroopers. Airborne commanding officers are pictured to be sitting in the flying aircraft with their parachutes on, and still don't have no information about HCO location and don't know where to make this mass drop, respectively. They're even don't know is Tarasov's group still at large, or it already apprehended... Other Facts * The film's title is a reference to the sector on the map which is located beyond of radars incidence, considered as High Attention Area by "Southern" Commanding officers, and where, probably, a rival Hidden Commanding Center is located. * The suits of main characters are not standard VDV-issued camouflage. They were custom made at Mosfilm studio's sewing workshop. * A lot of scenes, were cut from the movie, due to the Military secrecy routine * From the very beginning; the film was forbidden release. Main political department ("GPU") had sent a note, which prohibited "a movie, glorifying a power of our Army. Because it'll play into the hands of the enemies of International Détente". * Director, Andrei Malyukov, still doesn't know exactly in what countries his movie was released. Because «SovExportFilm», the organization responsible for exporting soviet movies abroad, never revealed this information, it was restricted data. However, the approximate number is few dozens countries. * Film is considered to be the best movie about VDV ever made.
