Plot
The movie shows how a five year old child (Jai) gets the true essence of life after several spiraling of events. The gist of the movie deals with the fact as what if the future turns out to be different from our expectation. It argues with the fruitfulness of the advancement and how diminished mankind will be affected by the snipping of emotion. Jai, the lead role of this movie gets to know the true values of life which is why Upamanyu Sushma Naskar knavishly titled his movie In Search of life. The larger than life portrayal of Jai is expected to sweep off critics of their feet as the story is at the same time simple and arduous.

Production Development
The story of In search of life was actually written in 2010 when Upamanyu Sushma Naskar, the director came up with this vivid idea of how life can turn out be so nuclear and atrocious if tech-savvy gadgets and automation of everyday life takes control over the simplicity of life. The pre-synopsis actually had all the requirements to convince Geet Atwal, the Creative Director of the film and she asked Upamanyu to jot it down for future.
However, adjudicating the name of the film, Upamanyu Sushma Naskar originally named it ‘Barren Future’. But whenever the director tells the synopsis, he would end it telling ‘they are going south in search of life’. Sahib, one of the lead actors suggested Upamanyu to name it ‘In search of life’ as it narrates the movie easier and iterates in mind.
Casting
The casting of the film was done in conflict as the original script needed two actors for leading roles and several others to carry the chronicle. But due to lack of financial opportunities they had to cut most of the mega sets and went with barer path in such way that both the artists and the audience do not get disappointed. The original script required more than 200 days for pre-production and making. But they eventually had to wrap the whole thing up in just 20 days. Upamanyu Sushma Naskar, while casting for the character of Jai never actually auditioned Aadi
as he believed that all that mattered at that time was the face and everything will fall at its own place by the blessing of god. Sahib, on the other hand was bigger name in television circuit and was chosen for some chairing roles but he wanted to do something challenging. The movie has no body-doubles for fighting scenes and Sahib actually agreed to perform his own action scenes all by himself to generate more faith by the audience.
Filming
The movie was scheduled to be shot in Rajasthan
. But after some going through several other options of locations they shot it in Haryana. The film saw some great obstructions while making. The first would be the location of Haryana where it does not rain that much. But during the shooting, the artists faced heavy pouring (118 ppt approx.) which sabotaged the shooting and they had to finish it incomplete every day. This made the making even harder as they were on a very tight schedule of 20 days and beyond that period of time the shooting would have not been possible even for a day.
The story wanted a bridge or a pass way on a dead river to show a dreaded era of near-past destruction for which they built a huge 65 ft tall bridge, imitating the Get of India. It was built by 176 workers for 16 days. The location charmed the art directors and the crew as it suited perfectly with the script. But the place where they set up the bridge was so windy at nights that they feared that it might be dangerous to shoot it under the erected set. The initial construction faced some difficulties due to the strong wind as it
bent after the completion of just 20 ft and they had to make it from scratch.
The financial limitation made the works of the director very much harder as the initial budget could not afford any crew members and technician for shooting. The director was even asked not to take any cameraman. But he showed some great responses to it and went on shooting it on his own. The first shooting after three months of pre-production took two years back in 2014. But the first day of shooting was a disaster as after a rigorous 8 hours of schedule, the one scene they managed to shoot was lost as the memory card in which it was stored got corrupted. But the director, as well as the actors, the art directors and Geet Atwal kept their calm and showed determination to overcome the difficulties. They took charges by themselves and figured out way to complete the initial shooting. PVC pipes were made as reflectors for capturing the scenes. They recorded audio on an IPad through lapel and Cannon 60D with just two lenses were used to shoot the whole thing.
Sound
Upamanyu was very clear about the background score of the film. He was specifically searching for the right essence of for the background music. But he noticed that the requirement is only meant in LA which was very expensive. So he searched for the optimum arrangements. He then met Mrinmoy Sanyal, the composer who asked Upamanyu to listen to his works. After several meetings they landed on a score which was actually included as the main background music for the film. The director gave his input about broadcasting the waves and emotions to meet the need.
