Immersive Education

Immersive Education is a Media Grid initiative that combines multiple technologies creating an exciting new classroom enviroment. Some of these technologies include commercial game and simulation technology, interactive 3D graphics, virtual reality, voice chat (Voice over IP/VoIP), Web cameras (webcams) and rich digital media with collaborative online course environments and classrooms.

Among the supporters and collaberators, in no particular order, are Boston College, University of Aizu, Japan, Singapore Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), Israeli Association of Grid Technologies (IGT), MIT Media Lab, James Burke Institute for Innovation in Education, City of Boston, Sun Microsystems, EMC, U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Longwood Medical, Media Machines, Elisee Rutagambwa, Africa and William R Jernigan Associates.
