IMBY

In My Backyard (IMBY)
The In My Backyard (IMBY) tool is web-based mapping tool developed in 2008 at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, CO. The tool estimates the total amount of electricity you can produce with either a solar PV array or small wind turbine at your home or small business. The tools is meant to be an easy to use energy calculator for homeowners, businesses, and researchers. IMBY is specifically designed to provide estimates of renewable energy production within the United States, and northern Mexico.
Users of IMBY can draw/place solar panels or wind turbines on a map, run an energy simulation, and view related economics and payback information. Additionally users can upload building load profiles to see what the impacts of the proposed system would be on their electricity usage.
This tool was developed at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (http://www.nrel.gov NREL])
