Image to OCR Converter is an optical character recognition software application made by Soft Solutions Limited of India. for the conversion of JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, TIFF, images, PDF and scanned documents into editable and searchable PDF, HTML, , Text-only PDF and TXT file formats.
Image to OCR Converter is Windows only software for Windows 98 and newer Windows versions. Version 1.2 was released as shareware offering a two page free trial and then 9.99 purchase price.
Features
Unlike file format converters that convert one file format to another, Image to OCR Converter can translate handwritten, typewritten and printed text into machine-readable format. OCR software inputs text in pixel format and converts it to non-pixel based, machine-readable, vector or text format. Image to OCR Converter also recognizes basic graphics shapes such as lines, tables and rectangles.
As the input to an OCR software is in the form of pixels, OCR processing is highly susceptible and sensitive to noise in the input image. Noise in an input image can cause high variance in the output quality of the OCR software. Image to OCR provides despeckling and noise removal to increase the output quality. Image to OCR also provides auto-rotation and deskewing of the input image to correct the orientation of the input image. Image to OCR Converter also supports command line processing for integration with other software applications.
An image-based Portable Document Format (PDF) document can be converted to a searchable PDF and a text-only PDF using the Image to OCR Converter with Universal Converter. Image to OCR Converter also supports TWAIN compatible scanners and imaging devices and can directly process scanned documents.
Image to OCR Converter is in competition with ABBYY FineReader and Nuance OmniPage.
