Ian Reid was born in Brooklyn, NY. He is the creator of the skate video, Sex, Hood, Skate, and Videotape. Through his skateboarding, he has experienced incredible and unparalleled moments which have allowed him to expand his repertoire into the visual worlds of photography and film & art.
Sex, Hood, Skate & Videotape was released in 2003. A skate/lifestyle film it included parts from Brian Wenning, Chima Ferguson, Neen Williams, and a few others. It was the first video of its kind to fuse the 2 worlds in which he lived.

His photojournalism career started at The Fader and has led him to document some very important moments in history.
His first official book titled A few days & nights was released in 2021 in conjunction with a film that was made and shown at the Museum of the City of New York.
In 2022 his second book was released titled Complex Geometry with a foreword written by Pulitzer prize-winning writer Trymaine Lee and published by Gingko Press.
