Ian McBryde (South Australian politician)

Ian Balfour McBryde (17 July 1928 - 22 December 2005) was a long-serving councillor in and mayor of the Town of Walkerville in Adelaide, South Australia.
McBryde was born in July 1928 in Medindie. He attended schools in Adelaide. In 1975 he was the Chief Commissioner of Scouts in South Australia. On Australia Day 1978, McBryde was made a member of the Order of Australia for services to scouting. McBryde was an engineer prior to his joining of the council.
In July 1979, McBryde was elected to the Walkerville Council, representing the Medindie Ward. He did not seek re-election in 1981 but later was elected to the Walkerville Ward in 1987. He vacated this office and was elected Mayor of Walkerville in the May 1991 elections. He won the 1993 election and did not contest the office of mayor at the 1995 elections, instead serving one more term as the Walkerville Ward Councillor.
