Hypercollaboration

Hypercollaboration is a process where two or more people or organizations work together to realize shared goals on multiple tasks, in real-time, virtually being present in more than one place at the same time, in effect cloning oneself, to maximizing efficiency and effectiveness. This is more than the intersection of common goals seen in co-operative ventures, but a deep, collective, determination to reach a identical objectives — for example, an intriguing endeavor that is creative in nature — by sharing knowledge, learning and building consensus.
Most collaboration requires leadership, although the form of leadership can be social within a decentralized and egalitarian group. In particular, teams that work collaboratively can obtain greater resources, recognition and reward when facing competition for finite resources.
Originally coined through one of the pioneers of collaboration software, ezenia, by Pete Janke, Hypercollaboration explains why while simple instant messaging or teleconferencing may be useful, the true leverage from collaborative environments is only realized when the toolset is complete and seamlessly integrated. Hypercollaboration enables virtual collaboration in more than one place at one time, and in real-time, in effect cloning oneself, and maximizing efficiency and effectiveness. Synonym: Multi-tasking
