Hunde Dhugassa Gabissa (born July 10, 1984, Ethiopia) is a 2007 law graduate from Jimma University. Hunde, an Oromo, was the president of the Jimma University Student Union and the Ethiopian Higher Learning Institutions Students Union from 2006 to 2007. He is known for the revolution he brought in the Ethiopian University students Union. He is a lawyer and an activist for human rights, debt cancellation, and fair trade interaction. Currently he is living as a political refugee in Belgium. He left Ethiopia due to the persecution he suffered from the security agents of the EPRDF government. He advocates unity among diverse populations, dialogue, and tolerance as short-term solutions to century-long problems in Ethiopian politics. He also advocates self-determination in its applicable manner, with the free will of the concerned nation. He wrote a thesis entitled "The Right to Secession in Ethiopia: the Case of Oromiya" for his LL.B degree. He advocated different organizations such as JUSU African Initiative Committee and Oromiya Lawyers Association, while he was a student in Oromia, Ethiopia. He also serves as secretary to the Union of Oromo Students in Europe, Belgium branch.
