Horlivka offensive

The Battle of Horlivka is an ongoing military engagement in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine for control over parts of Donetsk Oblast, serving as a counteroffensive to the Eastern Ukraine offensive. Ukrainian forces began advancing towards the city of Horlivka, held by the Donetsk People's Republic, a pro-Russian separatist quasi-state, it is a part of the Eastern Ukraine offensive.
Battle
On 2 March, Ukrainian official Oleksiy Arestovych stated that the Ukrainian forces went on the offensive for the first time during the war, advancing towards Horlivka. Ihor Zhdanov later stated that "there were reports" that a part of the city had been captured by Ukrainian forces.
According to Ukrainian reports, Ukraine's 95th Air Assault Brigade had begun attacking the city on 1 March. The Ukrainian Army stationed themselves at the city's outskirts.
