In 2013, I founded a new treatment project, Hope Rehab Center Thailand. It’s in one of the most beautiful settings in the world and it's a job that is beyond my wildest dreams. We are helping addicts and alcoholics from all over the globe here.
- Simon Mott, founder of Hope Rehab Center Thailand interviewed by The Telegraph (9th May 2014) Hope Rehab Centre Thailand has treated the writer Cat Marnell who coined the phrase Destination Rehab, referring to Health tourism in Thailand as an alternative to US and European Rehabs. Simon Mott was previously the head councilor at The Cabin, where he treated Pete Doherty, UK TV presenter Michael Barrymoore and many other high profile individuals. Founder Simon Joseph Mott is the twin brother of the designer and artist Toby Mott born 12/01/1964 Hampstead London. Treatment method The facility has 12 beds with a converted DC3 passenger aircraft on in its grounds. It is a western style treatment center combining modern Cognitive Behavior Therapy, 12 steps, mindfulness and fitness activities as a means to deal with addiction. The program also involves Recovery coaching in the community as a method of relapse prevention. The facility primarily treats addiction behaviors around the mis-use of alcohol and illicit drugs.
There are people who are more addiction-prone, though this can be because of environmental factors too. It is a fact that if your parents are alcoholic, you are more likely to be alcoholic. Though this could be through learned behaviour as much as genetics.
