Hood Hawk

Hood Hawk is a 2006 made for TV movie about a lazy mother of 2, who simply lives day-to-day on her former husband's child support.
Plot
Hood Hawk follows the story of Dorthy Johnson,
your average, single mother living in Ohio with her
two children, Andrew and Tracy. One day, while at work,
her boss angers her by asking for a cup of coffee and she
begins to cuss at him excessively. Needless to say, she
loses her job. Even after three weeks unemployed, she makes
no attempt to find another job. She lives solely off her
ex-husband's child support.

As the days go by, she begins to drink and drown her feelings of loneliness in
alcohol. Over time, she begins to become more and more
neglecting towards her children, even one time telling
Andrew to "Shut Up" when he tries to show her a picture of
the superhero he made, "Hood Hawk" (hence the title of the movie).

One day, while riding her bike, Tracy falls and bruises her back.
At school, the teachers notice her bruises and call child services.
When child services show up at her door, they are met with a drunk Dorthy,
with a bottle of scotch in her hand. When child services take Andrew
and Tracy away, she realizes what must be done to get the most important
thing in her life back. This is where the most "moving" scene occurs,
Dorthy picks up the picture of "Hood Hawk" and hangs it on the fridge,
and then grabs all of her alcohol and dumps it down the kitchen sink.
Dorthy then goes to rehab. Although it is difficult,
(she experiences withdrawal symptoms), a year later s
he is well enough to go back and regain custody of her kids.

The film ends with Dorthy returning home from work in her minivan
and seeing her children running up to greet her. She goes inside her
house and a friend of hers calls, asking if she wants to go out for a
drink, Dorthy looks out the window, sees her children playing, smiles
and says "no thanks...". And the film ends.
