HLV2514

HLV2514 is the unofficial designation of an asteroid discovered in June, 2020.<ref name"firstpost_072820"/> The asteroid is a Near-Earth Object (NEO) and an Amor asteroid.<ref name"toi_072720"/> The asteroid will get an official name after NASA confirms the orbit. This asteroid is near the planet Mars, but in about a million years will evolve into an asteroid that passes near the Earth's orbit.
The asteroid was discovered using the Pan-STARRS Telescope in Hawaii by two 14-year-old girls Vaidehi Vekariya and Radhika Lakhani from the western Indian city of Surat.<ref name"space_india_0720"/><ref name"reuters_072720"/> They found the object using specialized software to analyse multiple images from the telescope. The object was discovered as part of an asteroid search campaign conducted by the training institute SPACE India along with the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC), a NASA-affiliated citizen scientist group.
