Hiyai

Hiyai is a 2018 Manipuri film directed by Herojit Naoroibam and produced by Ksh. Ramesh and Ksh. Nishikanta, under the banner of Taruni Films and presented by Remi. The film features Maya Choudhory, Araba Laitonjam and Daya Ksh. in the lead roles. Other actors include Danny Likmabam, Devita Urikhinbam, Soma Laishram, Ratan Lai, all of whom are portraying supporting roles. The film was premiered at Range Ground, Yaiskul on 8 September 2018. Hiyai was also premiered at Shankar Lal Auditorium, North Campus, University of Delhi, New Delhi on 30 September 2018, on the occasion of Hijam Irabot Day. The trailer of the film was released by Mami Taibang in YouTube on 23 August 2018.

About
The film shows the hardships faced by Leima (Maya) in upbringing her children single-handedly, when her husband leaves her and develops a marital relationship with a widow Kusum (Devita). The film also sketches out the contrasting nature of Leima's first son (Araba) and Hiyai (Daya). Hiyai is the centric role of the film, from which the theme of the film is woven out : the longing for a happy, united family. This is the first ever film directed by the famous script writer of Manipuri films and radio dramas, Herojit Naoroibam.
Promotion and Box Office
The film was promoted at Saturday night special show of Manung Hutna, Impact TV on 1 September 2018. The film also emerged out to be a commercial success, and a success party was also held the next day of premiere at producer's residence.
Soundtrack
Amarjit Lourembam and Regit Lisham composed the soundtrack for the film and Herojit Naoroibam wrote the lyrics. The songs are titled Thajadraga Hangu, Thamoigee Mani and Haikhibadai.
