Hitoshi Yamada

Hitoshi Yamada (born 1939) is a Japanese management consultant and a pioneer of cellular manufacturing. He is the founder of the Personal Education Center for Kaizen (PEC) in Gifu, Japan.
History
Yamada was born in the Japanese city of Hashima, Gifu. He graduated from Nanzan University in 1963 and got a job working as a journalist for The Mid-Japan Economist. Starting 1971 he was mentored by Taiichi Ohno, who is known as the father of the Toyota Production System. Yamada has continued to develop these methods, such as cellular manufacturing at companies such as Sony, Sanyo, and Canon, Inc.
