Hertz Nazaire (October 2, 1973-October 28, 2021) was an Haitian paint artist and author who lived and work in Connecticut. He used art to raise awareness for Sickle Cell Disease, with which he was diagnosed at six months of age. Hertz is well known for his advocacy work for Sickle-cell disease around the world, and supports the use of CRISPR for gene therapy. He is also a published author of an adult coloring book series titled 'Finding Your Colors' created as art therapy for stress and anxiety relief. Career Nazaire began painting at the age of 9 as a means of coping with his disease when he immigrated from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Nazaire died on October 28, 2021 due to complications of his disease.
