Herko

Herko was a DC comic character that first and only original appearance was in in Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #54 (January, 1965)and was created by Edmond Hamilton (writer) & Kurt Schaffenberger (artist). In that issue Dr. Elder used his ray-generator to open up a doorway to another dimension and Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane was on hand to cover the event. The other-dimensional monster Herko was attracted to the doorway, and before Dr. Elder could turn off his machine Herko crossed over to Earth and immediately fell in love with Lois Lane. Herko battled a squad of police officers and defeated them. The officers asked Lois to keep a watch on the love struck Herko until there was a way to contain him. Herko tried to court Lois by offering her a uprooted tree as a bouquet, a tiger as a pet and a lamp-post twisted into an engagement ring. When Lois ran across Superman he engaged the monster in battle, and they fought to a standstill. Superman had Dr. Elder reopen his dimensional doorway and had Lois lure Herko back to his own world. Lois had Elder open a pinpoint view on Herko's dimension, and observed that Herko was standing around forlorn, wondering where his Lois went.

"The Monster Who Loved Lois Lane!" was reprinted in Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #113.
