Henry Milton Hershey

Henry Milton Hershey (b. March 20, 1955) is a minority owner and former executive with Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company. He is the 5th generation nephew of Milton Hershey. In 2008, he ran a write-in campaign for treasurer of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Early and family life
Henry was born March 20, 1955 in the town that bears his family name, Hershey, Pennsylvania, and attended the high school named for his famous confectioner ancestor. He went on to receive a bachelors degree in business management from Pennsylvania State University, where he met Elizabeth Ann Jay, whom he married in 1973. Henry and Elizabeth still live in Hershey, PA, where they raised their three children.
In 1972, Henry began working at Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, overseeing special events at Hershey Park. Over 25 years he was promoted to general manager of Hershey Park, Vice President of Resorts, and eventually President of the company. In 2007 he retired to spend more time with his family.

Political career
In 2008, he announced his candidacy for Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. On February 12, 2008, while transporting nominating petitions to the state capital in Harrisburg, PA in heavy rains, the vehicle suffered a tire blowout and skidded off the road. No one was seriously hurt, but nearly all of Hershey's nominating petitions were ruined. As a result, Hershey was unable to secure a place on the ballot for the April 22 Republican primary election. On March 20, Hershey held a press conference to annouce he would be running a write-in campaign to secure the Republican nomination for treasurer. Only Tom Ellis of Montgomery County, PA was officially on the ballot for the Republican primary.
Using only free media in order to comply with finance regulations regarding candidates not nominated by petition, Hershey has been able ot garner over 1,200 email pledges to write-in his name for nomination to the Republican ticket.
