Haznu

The Haznu are a small Ameri-Indian tribe in what is now the southwestern United States. The tribe were avid fur traders during their time, and played a role in the formation of Rosemead, California. The Haznu originated from the southeastern part of North America, and some of its members were from other Southeastern tribes such as the Chickasaw and the Yuchi tribes. They migrated west because their sun god Jankwach promised prosperity and riches in the West.
Art and religion
The Haznu were polytheistic and had many elaborate ceremonies and rituals. Many of their ceremonies involved the use of cannabis and tobacco, and, occasionally, sacrifices were made to please the gods, such as the power-hungry Jankwach.
Folklore
There are two specific Haznu chiefs that stood out: Deyuh and Reeuhn. Folktales speak of the many adventures that they experienced, most of which deal with the holy sun spirit of Jankwach guiding them to the morally correct way of a Haznu lifestyle.
Major folk characters
Deyuh
A warm-hearted man, who is loved by all his followers. He, however, suffers from severe epilepsy and his seizures are often deemed spiritual.
Reeuhn
Gruff and stubborn in nature, Reeuhn is the fertility symbol during his chiefhood. Often adored by the females, his body hair has given him his distinct look in wooden sculptures. He was charged with ceremonial circumcision and had incredibly low death rates.
Jankwach
The sun spirit of the Haznu people. He is one of the most powerful and influential gods of the Haznu culture. Sacrifices were often given to him in an attempt to please him. It is told that his sperm is the seeds that the Haznu plant and grow and the outcome of each crop is dependent on the mood of Jankwach. He is the father of Reeuhn and husband of the goddess of water, Chih.
Ecksteen
The perpetually pregnant priestess of Jankwach. It is believed that she once angered Jankwach by inappropriately using the Candle of Light. She gives birth to all living things in nature, specifically trees, and is re-impregnated by Jankwach immediately after each birth of a tree. She gave Reeuhn his body hair after he pledged his allegiance to her, not the sinister Chih.
Chih
The goddess wife of Jankwach. She is stubborn and is infuriated by the idea of Jankwach impregnating Ecksteen with his seed and not her. This causes friction between her and Ecksteen and later leads to a war on a universal scale.
Meengleh
Father of Jankwach and creator of the universe. His power was absolute until being overthrown by his power-hungry son, the sun god, Jankwach. He was responsible for the death of living things, as he is embittered by the mortals' worship of Jankwach and not him.
