Below are some policies specific to particular schools.

Punahou School
The present day Punahou School administration of the school states that they adhere to a policy of non-discrimination in regards to race and gender in admissions. Discrimination was a part of the school's past, and there have been individual allegations of discrimination at times despite the official policy. Past discrimination included limiting the number of Asian students to maintain the school's "American" characater.

Kamehameha Schools
The only school in Hawaii that currently has an official policy of racial/ancestral preference is Kamehameha Schools, which has been fighting in the United States federal courts to preserve their tradition of giving preference to people with at least some Native Hawaiian blood to attend.
