Harvey Danger 1996 demo tape

Harvey Danger is a demo tape produced by Harvey Danger in 1996. The cover of the tape features the band's name in black with two red arrows pointing upward. The tape is the first collaboration between the band and producer John Goodmanson, who became the band's technical muse and went on to produce all three of their albums and other recorded work, including the enduringly popular single .
Unlike the demo from two years before, this tape was not sold at shows, but instead produced for handing out or mailing to record labels, disc jockeys, and other people influential in the music industry in the hope of winning a record contract. It was this tape that Greg Glover, then an intern at London Records in New York, heard and contacted the band after his employer showed no interest, and the following year released their first full album under his independent Arena Rock Recording Company label, and then after being hired by London, signed the band to the label.
Despite that it was recorded as a demo, two of the recordings—"Private Helicopter" and "Terminal Annex"—were considered good enough for inclusion on the album Where have all the merrymakers gone? The third, "Carjack Fever," was re-recorded in March 1999 for inclusion on the band's second album, King James Version, as "(Theme from) Carjack Fever". Because of the three-year time gap between recordings, and because they were recorded by the same musicians with the same producer, comparing the two versions gives the listener a sense of the artists' progression over time. "Carjack" is the only Harvey Danger song to be recorded and released in two different versions.
