Guiness punch I have just done a search for artilces or recipes for this traditional Jamaican pick me up and found some perculiar results. Below is a true Jamaican rastaman recipe from 1950s first developed in uk shared with me in the seventies after many late nights and has been a closely kept secret until now. This was widely used in shabeens both in U.K. and Jamaica throughout the last half of the twentieth century. i am not sure of the availability of lite ale worldwide or any alternatives.any sugestions greatly welcomed. The use of noutriment or vanilla essence as i have read is now used as some new poor substitute to the original. when you get the balance with the recipe below the blend of all the ingredients creates a unique flavour untainted with new trendy alternatives. Try it with the beetroot for a real cocktail treat! Professor Merron guiness punch 1 litre of Guiness 1 small can of Mackeson (lite ale) 1 small can of evaporated milk 1 pinch of cinnomon 1 pinch of ground nutmeg half a cup of fresh beetroot juice (optional choice - recommened for those burning the candle at both ends.) mix the above with some ice and upto 2 pints of milk to taste, then sprinkle some flakes of chocolate or cocoa on top in a tall glass. links to references http://www.webtender.com/db/drink/5696 http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink4042.html http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/602561 http://www.cocktailer.co.uk/guinness-punch-cocktail-recipes-269.html http://www.idrink.com/v.html?id=9007 http://www.1001cocktails.com/recipes/mixed-drinks/200175/cocktail-guinness-punch.html http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/occasions/dinner-parties/come-dine-with-me/series-6/guinness-punch-recipe_p_1.html http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/occasions/dinner-parties/come-dine-with-me/series-2/caribbean-fruit-salad-with-guiness-punch-recipe_p_1.html http://blog.nationalbartenders.com/daily_drink_recipe/?p=89
