Gregory Patrick

Gregory Patrick (born 30 April 1998) is a Vanuatuan footballer who plays as a midfielder for Malampa Revivors in the Luganville Premier Football League and the Vanuatu national under-20 football team.
Early career
Patrick was born in Luganville, the capital of the island Espiritu Santo. In 2014 he moved to the capital of Vanuatu, Port Vila to join the training program for the National U-17's and to play for Shepherds United in the Port Vila Premier League.
Club career
Patrick joined Shepherds United in 2014. After the FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea he will join Malampa Revivors.
International career
U17
After Patrick had moved to Port Vila, he trialed for the U17's and was eventually included in the 23-man squad for the 2015 OFC u-17 Championship. He played in 5 of
Vanuatu's games: A 13-0 victory against American Samoa, a 9-0 victory over Tonga, a 2-1 victory against the Solomon Islands, a 2-0 loss against Tahiti and a 6-0 win against New Caledonia in the fird place match. The semi-final, in which Patrick did not played Vanuatu lost 5-1 to New Zealand.
U20
In 2016 Patrick was selected by coach Etienne Mermer to play for the U20's in the 2016 OFC U-20 Championship on home soil. During this tournament Patrick played all five games, however all of them as comming in as a substitute. Playing 10 minutes against Fiji (1-0 win), 7 minutes against Papua New Guinea (3-1 win), 32 minutes against New Caledonia (1-0 win), 1 minute against the Solomon Islands in the semi-final which they won by two goals to one. In the final Patrick played 5 minutes as his team went down 5-0 against New Zealand but it didn't matter anymore because in March 2015 the FIFA had decided that the OFC gets two slots at every FIFA U-20 and U-17 World Cup. This meant that Vanuatu had qualified for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea. It is the first time that Vanuatu have qualified for a FIFA world event. On May 12, 2017 it was announced that Patrick was included in the 21-man squad for the U20 World Cup. In the first game, against Mexico Patrick played his first 90 minutes for the team as they narrowly lost by three goals to two.
