Great South Band is a Sydney-based group of young musical performers writing original material. They are the first Australian tween pop group to be broadcast on both Chinese TV and radio, as a result of performing the award winning, environmentally imaged, original song Blue River at Zhongshan in Guangdong Province on October 3rd, 2008. Its lineup includes vocals, keyboards, trumpet, alto-saxaphone, keyboards, guitar, bass/cello-bass and drums. Songwriter and vocalist Shenoa South won First Prize in the 2008 National Schools Songwriting Competition (Environment) organised by the Australian Childrens Music Foundation.
