Grandluxe is a family-owned Singaporean company which started in 1942 as a book binder. The company is best-known for its diaries, hand-stitched notebooks, accessories and corporate gifts. Its products can be found locally in bookstores, and it can also be found internationally in countries such as Australia, Hongkong and United Arab Emirates. It has five main brands: Grandluxe, PaperLuxe, Monologue, Luxe, and Bynd Artisan. History In 1942, the founder of Grandluxe, Mr Chan Koon Song, started a small bindery workshop. He is currently Bynd Artisan’s Master Craftsman. According to a report in the Straits Times in Year 2000, it was reported that the Singapore market makes up around 10 per cent of Grandluxe’s revenue. The rest of its revenue is generated from countries such as Australia, the Middle East, Canada and Hong Kong. To support local talent, Bynd Artisan has also worked with several of Singapore’s notable design and art personalities to launch capsule collections. For example, they have collaborated with local artist, Erwin Lian, on a Kickstarter project. The Kickstarter project aimed to launch a sketch book customised for travelling artists. With more than 800 backers and USD$50,000 pledged to the project, it was successfully funded in August 2014 and fulfilled in January 2015. Designer Larry Peh, photographer John Clang and singer-songwriter Gentle Bones have also collaborated with Bynd Artisan on projects.
