GoTrusted is an Internet privacy company providing VPN services to individuals and businesses. GoTrusted was founded in 2005 by David Lonardo, a former product manager for Symantec Corporation. GoTrusted is a registered name of Human2, Inc. (pronounced Human 'Squared'), a Florida, USA based company. GoTrusted was one of the first VPN services along with Anonymizer, Witopia, HotSpotVPN, and JiWire (Spotlock). In 2011, GoTrusted was awarded patent 8,015,406 in the United States for their own in-house developed VPN technology. Based upon SSL communications protocols, the GoTrusted VPN technology, labeled SURE (Secure User Routable Encryption) VPN protocol by the company in their press release announcing the patent, uses methods to enable secure and encrypted communications on networks that may block other types of VPN protocols already in common use at the time of patent issuance. The SURE VPN protocol was designed to allow multiple users on a LAN (behind a NAT device) to connect and use VPN without interfering with each other's VPN session, which can be an issue with other VPN methods. SURE VPN was also designed to be difficult to block in regions or networks that disallow pre-existing types of VPN, such as in countries that attempt to block or filter free access to the Internet. Recent versions of the GoTrusted services are deployed with their GoTrusted Secure Tunnel software, which implements their in-house SURE VPN technology along with other standard VPN methods.
