Glowing Corn

Glowing Corn, was an American rock band from Eugene, Oregon. The band consisted of Jimmy Boyer and Kevin "Bingo" Richey, and were described as a "punk rock sensation" that performed between the years of 1994-97. In 1994 the group released their limited edition vinyl EP. The EP was described as songs with remote vocals "as if sung through a dense black cloud", even dual voices "sung an octave apart" lending "a certain quirky affability." The instruments were described as playing "backwards guitar solos" and "highly syncopated drum pattern". The reviewer of the EP finished by noting if the band could focus on making the vocals a priority by refining their delivery and tighter their ensemble presentation, "then their future would seem pretty bright." The band appeared on the Northwest Post-Grunge compilation by Elemental Records and their track "Cynemologous" was described as a stand out track and favorite of reviewer Rob Fiend of the Gavin Report.
Jimmy Boyer also played with Jeffery Fredericks' Clamtones, and after Glowing Corn formed the Freak Mountain Ramblers group with fellow bandmate Bingo. Boyer died on January 21, 2016 at the age of 47. He was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2017.
