Glodwick Infant and Nursery School is located in Glodwick, Oldham, England, an area of high unemployment and social disadvantage. It was opened by 1975 and is an open-plan school. It is an infant school for children from aged 3-7. The school is three-form entry and contains 90 children in each year group. The Nursery caters for 45 children in the morning and 45 children in the afternoon. The school has close links with Alexandra Park Junior School, which is where the majority of the children transfer to at the age of 7. The school has achieved the Basic Skills Quality Mark, Healthy Schools Award, and Sports Partnership award, an Eco School, and an Investor in Pupils. The school was graded Outstanding in its latest Ofsted inspection in September 2009. The Headteacher is currently Mrs Jane Brierley, who is a National Leader of Education.
