Gladstone Theatre in the Park

Gladstone Theatre in the Park is a tradition held in Oak Grove park, in Gladstone, Missouri, which puts on shows for Entertainment. It was first built in 1988 and started on its first play Oliver. It was made of 2x4 plywood. It would be taken down after the last of the shows ended. Though in 1992, crowds came and thus letting the ampitheatre stay for good.

Committies were formed to help raise money for the structure. Kids would go out into the crowds before the show and ask for donations. The Amptithetre now could be redone and a great sucess. In 1995, Gladstone had its first production on the New Ampitheatre of Hello Dolly. The cast loveed being in a real dressing room, and the Community band was in a real pit.

The Ampitheatre was a great success and for many seasons, it has entertained many. On July 25th 2001, the stage was named Ibsen Stage, after Van and Susie Ibsen, the founders. But on July 15th, 2002, the stage was burned to the ground. This act was arson. With 70 voluteers, and many donations, the stage was rebuit and was looking great. The second show of the seaseon was L'il Abner, which was a ground-breaking record of over 6000 people.
