Gitanand

Swami Gitanand Ji Maharaj "Bhikshu" (1918-2004) is a prominent figure in the spiritual world of India, who spread the message of lord Sri Krishna "Shrimad Bhagwad Gita" among Indians and spiritual seekers worldwide.

Shri Swami Gitanand Ji Maharaj Bhikshu is known as Gitamurti (the physical forum of Shrimad Bhagwad gita). He is one of the most prominent Hindu saints of North India and initiated hundreds of social services like old age homes, schools, vocational/IT education centres, eye/bone operation camps etc. Before Shri Maharaj Ji's initiative in the early 1960s there were no free eye/medical camps for the poor in India.

The biggest project of Shri Maharaj is Sri Gita Kutir "Tapovan" Ashram in Haridwar which includes a big Annkshetra where 1,000 saints at one time sit and regularly get two meals a day, and has been running without any interruption for more than thirty years.

Many other Ashrams in places such as Vrindavan, Hrishikesh, Panipat, Gurgaon, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Banswara, Ludhiana, Kullu, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Haryana, Panjab, Uttaranchal, Rajasthan, Gujarat have been doing various social service tasks successfully.

The disciples of Shri Maharaj Ji, Swami Divyanand Ji Bhikshu, Swami Avshesh Ji bhikshu, are spreading the his message and the message of the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita all round the India and the world.
