In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the giant strider is a type of magical beast. Publication history The giant strider first appeared in the original first edition Fiend Folio (1981). The giant strider appeared in the second edition for the Forgotten Realms setting in the first Monstrous Compendium Forgotten Realms Appendix (1989), and was reprinted in Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume Three (1996). The firenewt was further detailed in Dragon #257 (March 1999) in "The Ecologies of the Firenewt & Giant Strider: Hammer & Anvil". The giant strider appeared for third edition in Monsters of Faerûn (2001). Description A giant strider is a large creature usually ridden by firenewts. |
