Gerry Kavanaugh

Gerry Kavanaugh is the President of DCS and KSI and a potential candidate for the United States Senate election in Massachusetts, 2012.
He is a potential Democratic challenger to Scott Brown in the 2012 Massachusetts Senate race.

Education
After attending Bishop Stang High School, Gerry did a postgraduate year at Deerfield Academy. He went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree from Lafayette College and a Master's Degree in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout his education, he also played basketball, setting Lafayette College's Single Game Assist Record, with 17 assists in a game against Columbia on January 20, 1976.
Work
Gerry Kavanaugh served as Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s Economic Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff. In 1994 and 2000 he worked on Senator Kennedy's re-election campaign. <ref name=name/>

He is the founder of KSI and DCS, two Internet communications and software companies that provide online services to members of Congress, political candidates, non-profit organizations, and corporations across the country. <ref name=name/>

Prior to the 2004 presidential race, he served as the Policy Director for the Democratic National Committee. In 2003 and 2004, Gerry worked as a senior advisor to the John Edwards for President campaign. <ref name=name/>

Before his involvement in national politics, he worked in city government for over 15 years. He served as a city planner for the City of Keene, NH, and for the cities of Quincy and Salem in Massachusetts. He also served as the Chief of Staff for the Boston Redevelopment Authority, the largest redevelopment authority in the country. <ref name=name/>

He also founded SouthCoast Connected, a non-profit organization that develops and runs education programs to help reduce high school drop-out rates in cities along the South Coast of Massachusetts. More than 250 kids participate in various after-school tutoring and mentoring activities. <ref name=name/>
In March of 2011, he told a Boston Globe reporter that he was considering running against Scott Brown in the 2012 Senate race in Massachusetts. <ref name=globe/>
